Scratching your head looking for the right type of content for your website and social media? No worries—we’ve got you covered. Here are four types of content your audience will love.
How To’s
If you want to create interesting content for your website, the best strategy is to leverage your expertise. After all, no one knows your industry and your job as well as you do!
Identify the obstacles your clients face most often, and then create a blog post, a graphic, or a video explaining how to solve them.
For example, if you have a catering company you can come up with a guide explaining people how to choose the menu for their event. Or if you offer HVAC maintenance services you can share some basic maintenance tips with your audience.
Dos and Don’ts
This is another evergreen type of content that can get you a lot of clicks.
People are interested in the things they are supposed to do, but they are just as curious about what they SHOULDN’T do. This type of content takes advantage of that fact.
While “how to” articles focus on a single task, “dos and don’ts” are more general. For example, these are some articles or videos a bakery may publish to grow their follower count—and their bottom line:
- “The dos and don’ts of cake decoration”
- “The dos and don’ts of wedding cakes”
- “The dos and don’ts of making your own bread”
Lists
Like “dos and don’ts”, lists are another type of content that just seems to tickle our curiosity for some reason.
Even before the internet was even a thing, the music industry had its top ten, top 100 and so forth. And let’s not forget that the FBI takes advantage of the lure of lists with its list of the Ten Most Wanted Fugitives.
Here are some ideas to get you started (beginning with this article itself 😉):
- “The top 10 mistakes people make when buying a computer”
- “5 Simple computer hacks to streamline your routine”
- “10 ideas to upgrade your living room”
Answer Specific Questions
Finally, a common-sense way to create content that drives traffic is to answer questions that people ask often.
To discover questions you can use to create content, just search a relevant term on Google. On the results page, scroll down to find a section called “People also ask” with some common questions related to the term you searched.
For more ideas, just go to the bottom of the page to find the section “related searches.” There you have it: now you have at least ten ideas for content with just one click!
